Why does my hair feel waxy, greasy or βnot rightβ after switching to a shampoo bar?
This is a normal transition period as your hair adjusts from conventional shampoo to natural shampoo bar.
When using traditional shampoo, many people rely on synthetic detergents or silicones which coat the hair. Shampoo bars behave differently. During the first few washes you might notice buildup or a waxy texture. It usually improves after 1-2 weeks. For tips on speeding up this process, see our guide: Transitioning to a shampoo bar
Do you make samples?
No, we donβt offer individual product samples at this time.
You can read about our reasons here if youβre curious. We focus instead on keeping our full-size products affordable and high quality.

Do you make a conditioner bar?
No β our shampoo bars are formulated so that a separate conditioner bar is not required.
For more information please follow this link.
How do I use and store my moisturiser bar?
Simply warm the bar against your skin and glide it over dry areas or all over. Store it in a tin or on a small dish between uses.
Our moisturiser bars are made with natural butters and oils that melt gently on contact with your body heat. Rub the bar directly onto your skin β hands, arms, legs, heels, or anywhere that needs extra hydration β then massage in as needed.
Between uses, keep your bar in a tin (perfect for handbags and travel) or rest it on a little dish, storing it somewhere cool so it doesn't melt in direct sunlight is preferable. See full article about using and storing your moisturiser bar
How do I use and store my deodorant bar?
Rub the bar gently into the armpit, onto clean, dry skin β a thin layer is all you need. Store it in a tin or on a dish, away from heat, so it stays firm between uses.
Our solid deodorant bars work by melting slightly with your body heat. Glide the bar across your underarms to leave a light, protective layer that helps keep you fresh all day. Because the formula is concentrated, a little goes a long way.
After use, keep your deodorant bar in it's tin for travel or rest it on a small dish at home. Avoid leaving it in very warm places (like a hot bathroom windowsill or inside a car on sunny days), as it can soften. If it does, pop it in a cooler spot to firm up again. See this article to find out more about our natural deodorant bars.
Do you make a hand soap?
No we don't, our bars are multi functional, if you want smaller bars you can easily cut the 90g standard bar in half or quarters to use at different sinks.
Are your bars suitable for use on face?
Yes β all our soap bars (except our pumice bars) are suitable for facial use.
If you have very sensitive facial skin, test on a small patch first. Avoid contact with eyes. Our facial safe soaps are made without harsh abrasives and drying agents so won't tighten your skin like most commercial soaps.
Are your products safety tested?
Yes β all The Good Soap products hold CPSR certification and meet EU cosmetic regulation standards.
That means they are tested for skin safety, allergen content, and purity. We follow strict manufacturing practices here in North Wales, ensuring everything is done with care and compliance.
Are your soap bars suitable for children and babies?
We have a baby soap which has been certified as safe from newborn upwards. We also have 2 unscented soaps in child friendly shapes. Please see here for our children's soaps.
All other soaps are suitable for children from age 2 upwards.
Can I visit the workshop?
You are welcome to visit the workshop but MUST have an appointment first. We are unable to allow customers into the workshop during days we are making products due to helath and safety issues.
Do your bars contain parabens, SLS or palm oil?
No β our bars are free from parabens, SLS, and palm oil.
We use only natural oils, butters, and plant derived ingredients. Any naturally occurring allergens (for example from essential oils) are listed per product. Please follow this link to see how The Good Soap bars are made.
What are the weights of your products?
- Shampoo / Soap bars - 90g
- Salt Bars - 120g
- Shaving Bars - 90g
- Deodorant barsΒ - 90g
- Moisturiser bars - 85g
- Lip Balms - 20g
- Tinned Skin Balms - 85g
- Baby Soap - 90g
- Facial Cleansers - 95ml
Handmade soaps naturally lose some weight during curing (due to water loss). We do not add extra fillers to make up for it. So although weight might drop slightly, the product is more concentrated and long-lasting.
I have allergy concerns β how can I check your ingredients and allergens?
All ingredients and naturally occurring allergens are listed under each product; allergen-informationn page is also published.
If you have a specific allergy, check the productβs page before buying. If in doubt, contact us with the ingredient name and weβll happily help you check.
Why is the Lye not listed in the ingredients?
Because during saponification, the lye transforms and is no longer present in the final product.
Our process ensures the soap is safe to use even though we donβt list lye. All of our ingredients are traceable, natural, and processed carefully.
