What's In My Bar?
The Good Soap bars are artificial chemical and cruelty free. The only ingredients used are listed below.
Soap is made of a combination of oils, mixed with lye (sodium hydroxide) which changes formula during the saponification process. The oils are chosen to compliment each other, in a nutshell making soap relies very much on a precise balance and weight of the correct oils and also finding the right temperature at which to mix ingredients together. Saponification occurs during the process of mixing the oils and the lye together and both change composition. By the time the ingredients are mixed and the chemical reaction has taken place none of the original lye is left, hence the bars are now classed as 'chemical free'. The oils are no longer 'oily' and are cleansing. Once made the bars need about 4 weeks to 'cure'.
We begin with base oils, and the essential oils, or clays / powders if required, are added towards the end. All ingredients I use are natural so I never use chemical fragrances or add any artificial products to my bars.
