What is The Good Soap about?

Why choose your bars from The Good Soap?

The Good Soap is a local company with a global message. All products are handmade in North Wales by me, Dawn Rhodes, in my tiny kitchen. All of my products are chemical free, my products are good for your hair and skin, and also for the water system as they are washed away. It is extremely important to me that my products are cruelty free, absolutely no animal tested ingredients are included in my bars. I never use palm oil :)

I started making Shampoo and Soap Bars for my own family, so that we could start to eliminate plastic bottles from our own home. I was inspired, like many, by listening to David Attenborough, seeing his sadness about the state of our planet, and it sparked me into action.

Since starting to make my bars in June 2018 I have taught myself many new techniques and have developed more products to add to my range such as Solid Dirty Dog Shampoo, Solid Deodorant and Shaving Bars, Solid Moisturiser and Lip Balms. I have over 200 5 Star positive recommendations on my Facebook page :)

My policy is never to use plastic packaging as containers for my products, I use recycled and compostable materials in my packaging as much as possible. Sometimes this can be a challenge, especially when choosing the packaging for the solid deodorant bars and moisturiser bars ;) I am working with Business Wales on an environmental policy and I am proud to be a supplier to the first and only Zero Waste shop in the Area - 2050 in Old Colwyn.

This Is Me!

I work from home, in North Wales overlooking Conwy Castle. I have built a workshop in my back garden to use as an office and wrapping space for the products and a place where customers can come to view, smell and buy the bars. I share the garden with my 3 chickens, my cat and my dog. I now have assistance from 2 lovely ladies, Gemma and Michelle.

I have not bought a bottle of shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, shower gel, bubble bath, moisturiser or shaving foam since June 2018 and I believe if we all did the same we could make a difference to the health of our planet.
