How to run a small soap company! (or not!)

Having run The Good Soap for 6 years I think it's time I wrote a daily blog, here is the introduction

Hi, my name is Dawn and I am the owner / manager of a soap company based in Conwy, North Wales. I've run The Good Soap for 6 years now, working alongside my dog Ruby (the real boss), my best friend Michelle and my sister Gemma.

It's been quite the rollercoaster running a business in the last 6 years. We really hit the ground running and got very busy, very quickly, between 2018 and 2019, then the pandemic hit, I worked alone for months after having to furlough Michelle and Gemma, now that was so busy as the world and his wife needed soap, such hard work but actually great fun!

Things settled down and then we've been hit with the cost of living crisis, our ingredient costs, printing, packaging, energy costs etc have gone through the roof and the business has been hit quite hard by a combination of outside factors. Combine this with the fact that we are struggling to get seen on search engines, social media keeps changing it's algorythms and I'm a middle aged woman (no offence to any other middle aged women!) struggling to keep up with technology, business is not easy at the moment.

However, I am a very determined character, I know we have a great product, we have the most loyal regular customers and we are a tight team, so I know everything will be ok, we've worked too hard for it not to be.

So I want to write this daily (ish) blog to follow our progress, as we try to navigate this more tricky time with humour and determination. And keep a record of how it is for us, hopefully as we grow again into the thriving business we once were.
